IHC Mining has been awarded a contract to supply six portable cable reelers to FQM Zambia for the Kansanshi copper and gold mine.
These cable reelers will be integrated with FQM’s electric-powered Hitachi EX5600-7E excavators, supporting sustainable and safe mining operations in Zambia’s North-Western province.
The scope includes design, fabrication & corrosion protection, shop assembly & factory acceptance testing (FAT), FCA delivery to Cape Town, plus commissioning assistance & training.
Cited product highlights include roof sheeting for cable protection & reduced de-rating; plus a scraper & brush system for cable cleaning. They use a dual drum system, with feeder and main drum arrangements for optimal in-pit operations.
A Radio Frequency (RF) controller enables remote operation of the reeler to reduce human activity near the excavator; plus they have a unique design for manoeuvrability & ground clearance. IHC Mining says they are also low maintenance for more uptime.
